The Breit family has
been producing wines since 1654. Their name, their quality, and
their dedication have survived numerous wars, as well as economic
and family upheavals over the ensuing 350 years. In 1970 Manfred
Breit took over the business from his father. Since 1989, his
son, Holger Breit has been steadily learning the business, including
achieving recognition as a Master Wine Grower. This practical
training assures the Breit family will continue its long tradition
of producing fine wines with distinguished quality. Today, 90%
of the Manfred Breit production (60,000 liters +/-) is white wine,
with the majority being of the Riesling variety. The focus and
distinct quality of the Manfred Breit products mark this group
as a winner in every area.

1996er Piesporter Treppchen
Bacchus Qualitätswein

Bacchus is one of the first grapes
to be harvested, usually in the end of September. It is grown
on loamy soil on the right handed, flat side of the Mosel River.
The wine is very fruity, medium bodied with a nice bouquet of
Muscat. This sweet white wine should be severed at 12-14°
Celsius (53-57° F.) .

1997er Dhroner Hofberger Riesling
Spätlese
Residual sugar 4 1,4; Acidity 8,0; Alcohol
8,5%
|
Bronze award at the 1998
Kammerpreismünze Tasting.
Dhron is a neighbor village of Piesport
with a heavier clay soil. These wines are more complex combining
a little more spicy aroma with lots of citrus flavors. It is very
light for a Spätlese.

1997er Piesporter Goldtröpfchen
Riesling Kabinett
Residual sugar 53,4; Acidity
9,5; Alcohol 7,5%
|
Silver
award at the 1998 Kammerpreismünze Tasting
The Mosel is famous for their fantastic
light wines especially the Kabinett.
You wont find a wine as complex and refreshing with so little
alcohol in the world. This Kabinett is a sweeter one yet nicely
balanced with spicy acidity. If you prefer sweet for your meals
you can truly enjoy this one with white meat dishes, or fish.

1996er Piesporter Goldtröpfchen
Riesling Spätlese
Residual sugar 55,7; Acidity
9,5; Alcohol 8,5%
|
Silver award
at the 1997 Kammerpreismünze Tasting
The late harvested Spätlese wines
are medium bodied but still very flowery, with good aging potential.
This 1996 Goldtröpfchen Spätlese is still very fresh with a nice
tropical fruit flavor balanced with the acidity. This wine has
good potential for aging at least 8 years.

1995er Piesporter Goldtröpfchen
Riesling Auslese
Residual sugar 6 1,4; Acidity
9,2; Alcohol 8,5%
|
Silver award
at the 1996 Kammerpreismünze Tasting
This 1995 Auslese is a full bodied
wine made only of the ripest grapes. Auslese means "selection"
so we select only the Botrytis (noble rot) and the richest grapes
to make this special wine. The ripeness and slow fermentation
give this wine its peach aroma and its aromatic taste. It is more
a dessert wine or a wine for special occasions. Auslese wines
can usually be stored for at least 10 years and sometimes longer.
